The Body Peace Project
Mission Statement

The Body Peace Project is intended to generate awareness of and participation in the artistic and non-violent expression of our collective desire for peace. We invite artists to create and photograph artistic messages of peace and non-violence using the human body as a canvas. (A message of peace written upon flesh, not digitally added to a photo.) Participants’ photos are displayed as an artistic project via the Internet on thebodypeaceproject.com

Using the body as a canvas combines our natural desire to look at the magnificence that is the human body while bringing an intimacy, vulnerability and humanity to the artistic statement and the non-violent expression of peace.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s ‘Bed Peace’ naturally inspired the project. What would the world do without visionaries who have the conviction and courage to use their celebrity towards a greater purpose? Thank you John and Yoko, I hope this project earns your blessing.

The Body Peace Project by Liz Cohn was inspired on 10/4/2006 by the film ‘The U.S. vs. John Lennon’, and launched on the internet 10/9/2006. John Lennon was born on10/9/40. In 2006, he would have been 66 years wise.

My respect and condolences go to all people who have sacrificed and suffered from violence, war, abuse, and degradation now and through out human history.

Peace,

Liz Cohn
